The lyrics of Jean Sibelius's Finlandia Hymn come to my mind when I look at my new Alina scarf laying on an snowy rock at the frozen gulf of the Baltic Sea. For this Alina No. 2, I used a hand-dyed, sky blue Pukkilu yarn, a specialty by Ilu's Handu shop. I bought the skein a long time ago, and now it was time to use it. I'm still on yarn diet, and I inspired to use this skein by the November KAL event by the Friends of Ilu's Yarn Ravelry group. This Alina will travel to London, England as a thank you present for a dear friend who has put me and my family members up a great many times during the passing year.
Kyllä Suomen talvi on kaupungissakin kaunis, vaikka kylmää onkin. Onneksi on ollut oma, ensimmäinen Alina-huivi lämmikkeenä. Kiva huivimalli tuo Alina on edelleenkin: selkeä muttei ankea, helppo muttei aivan puuduttavan tylsä.
Winter in Finland is indeed beautiful, even at the city and even though it's been freezing cold lately. Luckily, I've had my own Alina No. 1 to warm me. I still love the Alina pattern: it's simple without being dull, easy without being boringly uneventful.
