Olen laiminlyönyt tätä blogia. Olen laiminlyönyt omia projektejani. Olen laiminlyönyt kavereitani, töitäni, kotiani, pihaani, ihan kaikkea. Aina ei vain pysty saamaan aikaiseksi kaikkea mitä haluaisi, mitä pitäisi. 

I have neglected this blog. I have neglected my projects. I have neglected my friends, my work, my house, my garden, just everything. Sometimes, you just fail to achieve everything you should, you would.

Itse asiassa vähän jokaisessa viimeaikaisessa tekemisessäni on ollut jonkinlaista hikisen pusertamisen, velvollisuudentunnon ja pakkopuurtamisen makua. Käsityöpuolella puursin valmiiksi sukat, joiden malli oli hieno, lanka oli ihana, mutta minun käsissäni tekemisen maku jäi puuttumaan. Lankalakkoni on pitänyt aika hyvin, mutta senkin kautta neulomiseni on sävyttynyt enemmän suorittamiseksi, kuluttamiseksi, kuin tekemiseksi, luomiseksi.

In fact, in almost every aspect my recent doings have suffered from halfhearted dutifulness so that making stuff has become plain drudgery. I knitted myself a pair of socks. The pattern was fantastic, the yarn was lovely, but still I felt something, the sense of enjoyable crafting, missing. My yarn diet is still quite successfully on, but that too has given an air of toil and consumption to my knitting that should be about creative making.

Jotain pientä kivaa on kuitenkin syntynyt. Arkanoid-pipo on ollut kovassa käytössä. Malli on hauska, väri on hieno ja lanka oli juuri sellaista ihanaa kuin pitääkin. Nyt on puikoilla suosikikseni nousseen sukkakirjan, Judy Sumnerin Knitted Socks East and West -kirjan malli Inro. Yksi sukka on jo valmis, se syntyi aivan pikavauhtia vain kolmessa päivässä.

I have nevertheless managed to get some nice things done. The Arkanoid hat has been in constant use. The model is so funny, the colour is great, and the yarn is as lovely as a yarn should be. Currently, I am knitting a pair of Inro socks from my favourite sock book: Knitted Socks East and West by Judy Sumner. I finished the first one in only three days.

Sitten on tietysti muitakin ilon aiheita, kuten kevään värit ja uudet lankavyyhtini. Istutin orvokkeja tienposkesta löytyneestä kuorma-auton pölykapselista virittämääni piha-amppeliin. Ihailin kallionkolossa jo kukkivia keto-orvokkeja. Katselen hellästi suomalaisen Woolgreyn tuottamaa Alku-kainuunharmasta, jota ostin kaksi vyyhtiä sävyssä Odysseus. Silittelen Pigeonroof Studion Siren Two Sock merinovilla-kashmir-sukkalankaa. Langan sävy on utuinen ametistinsininen Mourning Dove.

Then, of course, there are so many sources of joy such as the colours of spring and my new yummy skeins of yarn. I planted some violets to the hanging basket I fixed up from a truck wheel cover I found by a nearby road. I enjoyd the tiny wild violets that were already blooming in a crack of a rock. I glance tenderly the two skeins of rare Finnish Kainuu grey yarn produced by Woolgrey; the shade is Odysseus. I caress a skein of Siren Two Socks merino cashmir sock yarn by Pigeonroof Studios in a dusty amethystine blue shade labelled Mourning Dove.
