Kellervää järviruo'on röyhyistä / Yellowish from reed flowers

Mielenkiintoista! Varaston katosta pari vuotta roikkunut kimppu järviruo'on röyhyjä tuotti perisuomalaista kellanvihreää. Tein tavallisen esipuretuksen (10% alunaa + 5 % viinikiveä lankojen kuivapainosta). Liotin röyhyjä 3 vrk, keitin röyhykeittoa noin tunnin ja annoin sopan jäähtyä.

Värjäsin 4.9.2009 pienet kerät (värjäysaika n. 1 h); pohjalangat olivat seuraavat (kuvassa vasemmalta oikealle, alla näkyy pätkät alkuperäistä, värjäämätöntä lankaa):

• Villa Laurilan suomenlampaan villa, luonnonvalkoinen, tex 180 x2, 12 g
  
• Villa Laurilan sukkalanka, suomenlampaan villa 85 %, nylon 15 %, vaaleanruskea, tex 140x4, 12 g
  
• Villa Laurilan kainuunharmas, tummanharmaa, tex 140x3, 13 g
• Villa Laurilan laamasilkki, 30 % laama, 35 % silkki, 35 % suomenlammas, vaaleanruskea, tex 140x2, 9 g

Luonnonvalkoinen villalanka tuotti oikein kauniin keltaisen, samoin laamasilkistä tuli kaunis oliivinvihreä. Kainuunharmas ja sukkalanka menivät vähän likaisenkeltaisiksi.

How very interesting! A bouquet of reed flowers that had been forgotten in the larder for a couple of years gave very Finnish greenish yellow. I used a standard premordant (10 % alum, 5 % creme of tartar of yarn's dry weight). I soaked the reed flowers for 3 days, then cooked the reed soup for about an hour and let it cool down. Next day, on 4 September 2009, I dyed small hanks of the following yarns (from left to right in the photo; a strand of undyed yarn can be seen below the hanks):

• Villa Laurila, pure finnsheep wool, natural white, tex 180 x2, 12 g
  
• Villa Laurila, sock yarn, finnsheep wool 85 %, nylon 15 %, light beige, tex 140x4, 12 g
  
• Villa Laurila, Kainuunharmas wool, natural grey, tex 140x3, 13 g
• Villa Laurila, llama silk blend, 30 % llama, 35 % silk, 35 % finnsheep wool, light beige, tex 140x2, 9 g

The natural white wool came out quite beautifully with a tone of soft yellow. Likewise, the llama silk blend came out great with a nice olive green tone. The grey Kainuunharmas and the beige sock yarn turned into a bit dirty yellowish green (or greenish yellow).
