Lisää kellervää katajasta / More yellowish from juniper

Lapsi toi maalta muovikassillisen pieniä katajanoksan pätkiä äidille värjäyskokeiluihin. Otin niistä puolet likoamaan, liotin 3 vuorokautta ja sitten keitin värilientä noin tunnin. Unohdin kattilan ulos viikoksi, värjäys 9.9.2009 esipuretettuihin lankoihin (10 % aluna, 5 % viinikivi), värjäysaika n. 1 h, langat samat kuin järviruokokokeilussa (kuvassa vasemmalta oikealle):

• Villa Laurilan suomenlampaan villa, luonnonvalkoinen, tex 180 x2, 13 g
  
• Villa Laurilan sukkalanka, suomenlampaan villa 85 %, nylon 15 %, vaaleanruskea, tex 140x4, 11 g
  
• Villa Laurilan kainuunharmas, tummanharmaa, tex 140x3, 17 g
• Villa Laurilan laamasilkki, 30 % laama, 35 % silkki, 35 % suomenlammas, vaaleanruskea, tex 140x2, 8 g

Jälleen kerran paras tulos tuli luonnonvalkoisella villalla (pehmeä keltainen) ja laamasilkillä (vaalea pähkinänruskea), mutta myös kainuunharmas-langan harmaasta tuli kauniin metsäisen vihreä.

My dear child brought her mother a bagful of juniper stems from her trip to the countryside to experiment with. I took half of them, soaked for 3 days, then cooked for an hour. I forgot the pot on the terrace for a week, dyed on 9 Sep 2009 using premordant yarns as with reed flowers. Below is a picture that illustrates the basic resemblance of colour between juniper (below) and reed flowers (above). Juniper gave deeper and a bit more brownish colour.

Again, llama silk blend (light nut brown) and the natural white wool (soft yellow) worked out the best, but with juniper, also the Kainuunharmas grey turned into a not so bad soft woodland green.
